EXTEND LIFECYCLE
BePacMan (Better Paper Packaging Management) is a South Baltic project focused on extending the life cycle of paper packaging through reuse and circular business models. By bringing together e-commerce, logistics, waste management, SMEs and public authorities, we develop and test practical solutions that reduce waste, lower CO₂ emissions, and support the transition from linear to circular resource use.
Paper packaging is everywhere — and the growth of e-commerce has made the challenge even more urgent. BePacMan promotes reuse as the first choice, helping businesses and communities keep packaging in use for longer and reduce the environmental footprint of its life cycle.
Paper packaging is omnipresent — and still often treated as single-use.
Paper packaging use increased significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic due to shifting consumer behaviour and the rise of e-commerce. Many boxes are still discarded after one use, even when they remain suitable for reuse. BePacMan helps build reuse-friendly supply chains and encourages market stakeholders to take responsibility for materials throughout their life cycle.
